About

For my 50th birthday in 2001 I took a six month break and used much of it to travel the world. Some I did with Marilyn, my wife, but mostly I was on my own until met by two very good friends to walk Torres Del Paine in Southern Chile. That experience was fairly life changing.  I resigned my senior position at work after a couple of bottles of great Argentinian wine and an evening of watching some brilliant tango at Tortino in Buenos Aires. Some five years later, after some ill health, I decided to work part-time and then to retire early and move to Cornwall.

Now retired and ten years on Marilyn and I are sharing a trip around the world. We will take in San Francisco, Big Sur, Fiji, NZ and Oz and home via Singapore some ten weeks later.

I hope to share some of the experiences in this blog for those who might be interested.

  1. Hello cornishtim, pleasure to meet you in the blogoshpere! Your blog has just been added to my blogroll and I look forward to seeing all your pics of your wonderful travels. Thank you also for stopping by my little corner of the world and following us on our journey too. May you have a blessed day!

  2. Hi Cornish Tim, thanks for introducing yourself by following our site! We look forward to exploring yours too. If you’re on Facebook, we also invite you to visit the RAXA Collective page. See you there!

    • Dear Nathan – How are you coming down and when? Would be pleased to offer you hospitality and set you on way if free. My choice would be to do a stint on the Coastal Path. Perhaps from St. Ives to The Lizard? We can sometimes have lovely weather in Sept/ October although you should be prepared for rain. See my posting on airbnb for Probus.

      • Hopefully by way of the thumb, I’ve had very good luck hitching rides so far in the UK. I’m in Bath til tomorrow, then the plan is to head to Cornwall. Ideally, I’d like to make it all the way down to Land’s End. The catch here is that I have a flight departing from Bristol on the morning of the 16th, so I don’t have much in the way of time
